Our Founder.

Hi! I’m Dawn Quill, and I’m the proud founder of Arts VanGo. I’ve always said that “everyone is born an artist”, but I am a bit different; I was born an art educator! From a very young age, I realized the power and my love of art, and became fixated on sharing it with my community. While in highschool, I created an after-school art program for elementary school children that I ran out of my family’s home! I received my degree in arts education, and started my career as an elementary art teacher in Ohio. I moved to the DC area for graduate school, and started a career that would last for over 10 years, as an educator for the Smithsonian Institution.

The arts play such a pivotal role in a child’s education, and while I am deeply grateful for all my previous positions and acknowledge the experiences they provided, starting my own art space has always been a dream of mine. I created Arts VanGo to fill the void of local inclusive art programs with experiences designed for artists of all abilities. Our workshops are all developed with the guiding artistic principles that no two pieces of art should look the same, and that there are no mistakes in art. Arts VanGo offers young artists the unique opportunity to explore different genres of art, in a comfortable non-school setting.

Let’s create something great together!
